Dr. Monika Prusinowska is a Ramony Cajal Fellow at the University of Barcelona, Public International Law department. She is also a research associate at the Oxford University’s “China, Law and Development" project.
Her work perspective has been shaped by nearly a decade of experience in China, where she studied Chinese law and worked at the China-EU School of Law at the University of Political Science and Law, as a foreign counsel at one of the largest Chinese law firms, a lecturer at the Polish embassy in Beijing, and collaborated with Asian arbitration institutions. In her research, she concentrates on the intricate legal connections between China and the rest of the world. She investigates a variety of aspects concerning dispute resolution involving China, legal implications of China’s foreign investments, China’s role in the energy transition, and the legal relationship between China and the European Union.
Monika obtained law degrees (two master degrees and Phd) in Europe and China, and now completes her master degree in Latin American studies. Monika mastered a number of foreign languages, including Mandarin. She is also qualified as an attorney-at-law in Poland and offers consultancy on legal matters involving China and dispute resolution aspects in particular.
Monika's writing experience is evidenced by her book chapter publications with Oxford University Press, Edward Elgar (in English), and with UB Dret (in Spanish), as well as her peer-reviewed work in, among others, Cambridge University Press journals. In addition to her writing, she serves as an editor for the China-EU Law Journal Series.
