Since 2013, lawyer Matthias Schroeder has been the CEO of law-china.de, Schroeder Xiang & Partner in Beijing. Matthias grew up in Beijing and studied Law at Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany, and International Trade Law and Human Rights at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa. In 2007, he became Head of Asia Desk for the law firm Beiten Burkhardt in Munich, Germany. In 2011, he joined the Beijing Office of the law firm Rödl & Partner as Head of Legal Department and moved back to Beijing. Previously, Matthias served as an expert to the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress for the Sino-German Legal Cooperation Programme (“Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit – GIZ”). He speaks Chinese, English, German, French and Russian. At the China-EU School of Law, he teaches Litigation and Arbitration.
